The STALKER franchise has now accumulated a loyal cult following just after the original installment which struck fear into the hearts of gamers and which has also fascinated them since 2007. But now Fifteen years later, the Zone is going to be back in business with STALKER 2: Shadow of Chernobyl.
Highlights
- STALKER is all about the infamous Chernobyl disaster of 1986.
- STALKER 2 release date is April 28, 2022.
- It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X.
To recall about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. the plot is all about the infamous Chernobyl Disaster of 1986, where on April 26 the nuclear reactor near Pripyat, Ukraine melted down, which resulted in one of the worst nuclear disasters in the history of mankind. In the alternate timeline of STALKER the exclusion zone around Chernobyl, which is commonly known as “The Zone,” experienced one more explosion after 20 years in 2006 and coincidently just before the original game was released in 2007.
STALKER 2 was officially announced way back in 2018, and we waited until 2020 when the first official trailer was released. Following E3 2021, now we’ve got our first look at actual gameplay, along with an honest release date. Considering the series which has gone through several failed attempts at resurgence since its release in 2007, it is very much fair to say that loyal fans are chomping at the bit just to see what the sequel will look like in full with the latest technology when STALKER 2 will come out on April 28, 2022.
The first official trailer of STALKER 2 was dropped on July 23, 2020, and it gave us an early glimpse into CSG Game World’s updated version of the horrors and mysteries Zone. The trailer shows the Various snapshots of Chernobyl’s most iconic landmarks which are scattered throughout the dusty camera lens, along with the infamous Ferris Wheel that serves as a harrowing memorial to the Pripyat Amusement park in STALKER, and also in real life.
GSC Game World released a short trailer in which they said as a holiday gift to all our loyal fans out there, we like to think, “how the game actually feels with the fast-paced change of scenery, ominous landscape modes, and the ever-present feeling of an inevitable danger accompanied by a barely-distinguishable guitar soundtrack.” Based on the constant feeling of dread just about everyone who gets playing a STALKER game for the first time, this sounds very much right.
During E3 2021’s Xbox presentation, we got the best look at STALKER 2 and it does look good. The trailer opens the way it should: with everyone sitting around the campfire, and swapping stories with their fellow stalkers after another hard day in the Zone.
Through these flashbacks, we have now got looks at the combat system, about some loot, and even a few of the characters that we will be running into during the game. While we have got a better look than ever before at the sequel during E3 2021, as far as a story will go we didn’t get all that much, but we still know many things. One info we do know for sure is that the player character is going to be a mysterious new stalker and it is named “Skif.”
STALKER 2 is going to be available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and also in the Xbox X|S. It is not going to be out on Playstation 5 at release, and still, there’s no indication whether it will be coming out on Sony’s platform or not.But as a bonus, it is going to be available on the Xbox Games Pass at the time of release, which means you’ll be able to play at release till you have a subscription.
This was all about the STALKER 2 game. Stay tuned for updates.
